TAKE ON KS FOR KIDS.
RAISE MONEY.
FIND CURES.
Walk or run this August and be a hero for kids with genetic diseases and cancers!
Will you go the distance for kids living with a genetic disease?
This August, get active and take on Ks for Kids to help find treatments and cures for the 1 in 20 kids facing a birth defect or genetic disease, like cancer and cystic fibrosis.
Choose your distance goal, then walk or run your way through August while raising funds for life-saving research at Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Register solo, create a team or get your workplace involved and help find cures for kids who need them most.
How it works
Register to walk or run
Invite friends or colleagues to join your team, or take on the challenge yourself. Choose 30km, 60km, 100km or another distance to complete over 31 days in August.
Spread the word
Share your fundraising page with friends, family and workmates! Ask them to support and sponsor you.
Help find cures
Every dollar you raise helps fund vital medical research that can find treatments and cures for kids with genetic diseases.
Walk or Run for kids like James
Ana expected the sleepless nights that come with being a first-time mum, but instead she found herself in hospital as baby James underwent urgent and intensive surgery.
“I just wanted to be the best mum and take him home and cuddle him,” she said. “It was very scary and confronting.”
Shortly after birth, doctors discovered James had glaucoma and further genetic testing confirmed Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome, a rare condition that can affect the eyes, heart, skeletal system, and hearing.
Within days, James required urgent eye surgery, followed by corneal transplants on both eyes. While one initially worked, the condition continued to affect his vision.
Today, James wears glasses, uses a cane, and has started school with confidence, thriving in the classroom and with his friends.
“He’s full of energy,” Ana said. “His vision hasn’t stopped him doing the things he wants to do.”
Seeing the work underway at Children’s Medical Research Institute gave Ana renewed hope and purpose.
“It’s an amazing team of scientists,” she said. “They’re researching how science can help kids like James.”
By taking on the Ks for Kids challenge this August, you’ll help us find cures for genetic diseases and cancers that can save the lives of kids like James.
