Why I’m Doing Ks for Kids
Did you know that 1 in 20 Aussie kids are born with a genetic disease or birth defect? In our family, that 1 in 20 happened to be our nephew, Rudy, who was born 4 months ago and diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at birth. Two years ago the life expectancy would have been 1 years of age. But thanks to advancing research and a new gene therapy drug, he is now expected to live a normal strong happy life.
So we are raising awareness and funds for further research so we can give other kids the chance that our Rudy got which we will forever be so greatful for! It is one of the research areas where huge advancements is still being made daily, for example there is still no treatment for late SMA onset.
So this August, our little fam is taking on the Ks for Kids challenge - walking to raise funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute, supporting scientists who are working today to find cures for tomorrow.
Every step we take is for them. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help us go the distance and fund vital research!
