Our participation in Jeans for Genes Day is especially meaningful to all of us at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Central Coast Community Transport as we support our teammate, Peter Helyer, and his 9 year old daughter. Amelia.

Amelia lives with Kabuki Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects her development and requires ongoing therapies, medical care and support.

Like many families living with a rare genetic condition, Peter, his wife Elissa and Amelia have faced uncertainty, challenges and countless appointments along the way. Yet through it all, Amelia's determination, resilience and infectious smile continue to inspire everyone around her.

The Helyer family relocated from Geelong to the Central Coast recently seeking a warmer climate that would better support Amelia's health. Since moving, they have experienced extraordinary kindness from our local community and Amelia's school, which has embraced and supported her every step of the way.

On Thursday 6 August, our team will don some denim and raise funds for Jeans for Genes to help support vital research into genetic disorders and give hope to families like the Helyers.
