Goal

3,100 Skips

Why I’m skipping
I’ve signed up to do 100 skips a day throughout August to raise money for Children’s Medical Research Institute and help save more kids’ lives.

Here's just one story explaining why this cause is so important:

Amaya is a beautiful girl who was diagnosed with cancer at a young age. Even with this diagnosis she still lives life to the fullest whilst going through horrific treatment such as chemotherapy, continuous scans and doctors visits.

Amayas beautiful family have supported her and given her so much love and support. It is absolutely inspiring seeing her strength and bravery, I look up to her in every way.

A cancer diagnosis is hard on everyone. It affects the child that has been diagnosed, destroying their chances of a normal childhood that we so often take for granted. It’s hard for the parents who live in constant anxiety about the wellbeing of their child. It’s hard on siblings who essentially lose their parents attention to their sick sibling. It’s hard on friends and extended family members losing time with the sick child because a common cold interferes with chemotherapy or emergency hospital visits leading to cancelled play dates.

I care about the 1 in 20 Aussie kids who face a birth defect or genetic disease, like cancer. Most people don’t know that cancer is caused by changes in genes—but almost everyone will be touched by it. So, the research you and I support today may one day help someone we know, someone in our family.

There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
