Why I’m Supporting Jeans for Genes?
Did you know that
1 in 20 Aussie kids are born with a genetic disease or birth defect? That’s one in every classroom!
My son is that 1..Â
Im passionate about this charity because my son Declan has a rare brain abnormality called schizencephaly only 1 in up to 10 000 live births have this condition. He also has dysgenesis of the corpus callosum 1 in up to 20 000 live births have this and a microdeletion of chromosome 16p13.11 1 in up to 1000 000 live births.Â
These cause seizures, developmental delays, learning problems, hemiparesis, weakness in limbs, global delay, autism, adhd, fine and gross motor skills, speech, cognitive skills, and social and emotional development just to name a few but its a very long list and he's got it all. He is perfect to me and surprises me every day.Â
This year, I’m taking part in Jeans for Genes to help fund the incredible scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute, who are working today to change lives tomorrow.
Your donation will help keep labs running, research advancing, and hope alive for kids who need it most.
Together, we can make a difference.Â
Jenes for genes donate 82 cents to every dollar. Good to know.Â
