Why we’re skipping
We’ve signed up to do 100 skips a day throughout August to raise money for Children’s Medical Research Institute and help save more kids’ lives. Can you help by sharing this message with the people you know and asking them to donate too?
We're doing this to help all families who have a child that is affected by a genetic condition but especially to support Emily's son Rory who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 4 weeks old, he is currently 2.5 years old.
Rory has grown into a beautiful, bright and happy little boy despite the challenges he faces. He has already spent a lot of time in hospital due to common illnesses that all children get, he just doesn't cope as well with them.
A simple common cold sent him to hospital for 2 nights only a few weeks ago.
He spent Christmas last year in hospital with a pic line and 6 hourly antibiotics due to a chest infection.Â
He has monthly appointments with his CF team and there are a lot of things he won't be able to do due to his condition.Â
He doesn't let any of this stop him though, and is absolutely thriving with the help of his daily medications and physio.Â
We are doing this for Rory, but there are so many families out there with similar stories to this.Â
The research that we support today may one day help someone you know, someone in your family too.Â
There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
