Why I’m Doing Ks for Kids
Did you know that
1 in 20 Aussie kids are born with a genetic disease or birth defect?
This August, I’m taking on the
Ks for Kids challenge - running to raise funds for
Children’s Medical Research Institute, supporting scientists who are working today to find cures for tomorrow.
Finn's update:
In the last 12 months we've learnt that Finn has a splice in his FGD1 gene. Whilst there is no known cure or gene therapy available given the rarity of his disorder we work with a team of therapists to manage his symptoms.
Speech therapy has helped him manage his emotions, communicate effectively and broaden his vocabulary.
Physiotherapy has helped improve his low muscle tone, fine and gross motor skills and mobility. He can now confidently walk up/down stairs, jump and climb play equipment.
His Inclusion support teacher has helped with his social skills, everyday tasks and is now working towards getting him school ready for 2028!
Finn is overall a happy and healthy boy who's navigating life a little differently!
Every step I take is for them. Your donation will help me go the distance and fund vital research!
