Why I’m skipping

Throughout August, I’m committing to 100 skips a day to raise money for the Children’s Medical Research Institute through Jeans for Genes.

I’m doing it because around 1 in 20 Australian children are born with a genetic condition or birth defect. Many of the treatments and medical breakthroughs we rely on today only exist because someone invested in research years before those children were even born.

Working in health and safety, my job is to help prevent people from being harmed and make sure they go home safely. Supporting medical research feels like an extension of that. It’s about giving children and their families a better chance at healthier, longer lives through research that can genuinely change outcomes.

I’m under no illusion that skipping rope changes the world. But funding research does.

If you’re able to sponsor me, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, helps support the scientists working towards better treatments and cures. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing my fundraising page is another simple way you can help.

Thank you for your support—it really does mean a lot.
