100 Skips a Day for August — Help Save Kids’ Lives!
Hi everyone! I’ve signed up to do 100 skips every single day in August to raise money for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, to help save more kids’ lives.
I’ve been doing boxing and I’ve learned lots of new skills including skipping, so I wanted to use them to do something good and help kids who are sick. My mum is going to do it with me too!
I want to tell you about a boy named Harrison. He was healthy and happy, until one day he just stopped being able to walk. The doctors found out he had a really rare kind of cancer called leukaemia. It took a long time to figure out exactly what it was, but because of research that had already been done, the doctors knew how to help him and made him better.
Harrison’s mum said that research is what saved her son, and that we need more research so it can help save other kids too.
Did you know that 1 in 20 kids in Australia are born with or get a genetic condition, like cancer? That means it could happen to someone we know. So the money we raise now could really help someone in the future.
