Skipping for SMA

I’ve signed up to do 100 skips a day throughout August in honour of our Son Nate to raise money for Children’s Medical Research Institute and help save more kids’ lives.

We lost our beautiful baby boy Nate in October 2025 to a genetic condition spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) at 10 days old. With a normal pregnancy and born at 40 weeks he was diagnosed 2 days before he passed. SMA a genetic disease that affects motor neurons in the spinal cord, causing progressive muscle weakness. Our little man had type 0 this is the rarest and most severe form of the disease, starting before birth.

I care about the 1 in 20 Aussie kids who face a birth defect or genetic disease, like SMA and cancer. Most people don’t know that cancer is caused by changes in genes—but almost everyone will be touched by it.

There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
