I’m fundraising in support of my son, Braith.
Why I’m skipping
I’ve signed up to do 100 skips a day throughout August to raise money for Children’s Medical Research Institute and help save more kids’ lives. Can you help by sharing this message with the people you know and asking them to donate too?My son Braith who is now 7 was born with a genetic mutation of the pik3ca gene.
When a PIK3CA mutation occurs spontaneously during early embryonic development, it causes a rare group of conditions known as the PIK3CA-Related Overgrowth Spectrum(known also as PROS) and for Braith this has led to megalencephaly capillary malformation syndrome requiring a VP shunt, overgrowths of multiple limbs, chiari malformation 1 (requiring a decompression), epilepsy & an intellectual disability.
I care about the 1 in 20 Aussie kids like Braith who face a birth defect or genetic disease
There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
