Goal

3,100 Skips

I'm skipping for...
my son David. He will be 15 this year and has had a long history of seizures, global developmental delay, anaemia, poor muscle tone, intellectual disability, global pain, lethargy, depression, speech and swallowing difficulties, global inflammation, atypical white matter growth, and cerebral calcification. David has the interests and cognitive level of a 3–5-year-old and loves animals, Paw Patrol, The Wiggles, and Ninja Turtles.

Five crapshoot misdiagnoses, lobbying local, national, and international clinicians and professors, advocating, traveling to Royal Melbourne Children's, endless medication trails, and he has been diagnosed with one of the rarest genetic conditions, which has been newly named in the last two years.

David has NASA Syndrome, as a result of a deficiency in the IRAK-4 protein. It is life-shortening and has one journal on it. David is the bravest kid I know with an endless spirit, sense of silliness and humour.
