Why I’m Doing Ks for Kids

My son Logan, (9) was diagnosed in 2024 with a genetic disease, called Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT-1A).
CMT is a group of inherited neurological disorders that damages the peripheral nerves. Leading to progressive muscle weakness, sensory loss in the feet, legs and hands.
Logan has progressive muscle weakness in his feet and legs. He wears AFO's (Ankle-Foot Orthosis) to aid him with his walking, to limit his falling and assist him with his ankle range and balance.
Logan attends weekly appointments to physiotherapy and exercise physiotherapy for maintaining movement and muscle strength training.
There is no cure for this disease.
Did you know that 1 in 20 Aussie kids are born with a genetic disease or birth defect? That’s one in every classroom!
This August, I’m taking on the Ks for Kids challenge - walking or running to raise funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute, supporting scientists who are working today to find cures for tomorrow.
Your donation will help keep labs running, research advancing, and hope alive for kids who need it most.
Every step I take is for them. Your donation will help me go the distance and fund vital research!
