Why I’m Doing Ks for Kids

Did you know that 1 in 20 Aussie kids are born with a genetic disease or birth defect? That’s one in every classroom!

This August, I’m taking on the Ks for Kids challenge - walking or running to raise funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute, supporting scientists who are working today to find cures for tomorrow.

Your donation will help keep labs running, research advancing, and hope alive for kids who need it most.

Every step I take is for them. Your donation will help me go the distance and fund vital research!

Making a Difference

I am pondering my 60km finish line which I need to increase now to say 120km… and approaching it slower than I’d like! I realise whilst at work my actions are far too sedentary. Often under 2kms for the day. Ridiculous. My grandson does far more in a single day than I’ll ever do. He is supported by a rail that he holds onto listening to his favourite songs on tv going back and forth along it (like a ballet bar) and then out of nowhere head swinging side to side in excitement. A joy to behold. Then on his roundabout thingy…. Spinning around so fast it makes me dizzy watching! Sitting on it… no hands or legs necessary just his balance moving it like a hola hoop… very fast! Teddy is a marvel as well as all my grandchildren. I just wonder about the what ifs!!! If he had all the genes in the right sequence what a terrific scholar and gymnast enthusiast he would be! Life is holding children like Teddy protectively in a shell like bubble waiting to be reborn! A butterfly or in Teddys case a dragonfly, the CTNNB1 mascot. Love them so much xx help if you’re able, thank you.

CTNNB1

What is it? It is exactly what the J4G research team looks into.  Filling in the gaps in the gene sequence we all take for granted. Let’s donate today and make an impact. Thank you to all helping to raise the chances of a full lifetime. I’m all for team Teddy, my gorgeous grandson who is now 5 and awaiting essential breakthroughs to his life through this life changing research. Thank you to all the scientists and researchers behind the scenes. You are making a huge difference.
