Skip & Dash with Nash

100 Skips a Day

We’re doing 100 Skips a Day because every dollar keeps microscopes humming and brings us closer to the answers to thousands of childhood conditions

Why we’re skipping?

One in 20 Aussie kids is born with a genetic disorder or birth defect, so every 100 skips helps fuel research that changes young lives . We are backing Jeans for Genes because DNA clues don’t just unlock deadly conditions, they also guide fixes for movement-stealing problems like scoliosis.

The research gap…

  • From birth: Congenital scoliosis shows up in roughly 1 in 1000 newborns and can tangle with heart, kidney and lung growth  .
  • Before Year 5: Juvenile idiopathic scoliosis (ages 4–10) makes up about 15 percent of idiopathic curves and often races past the 45-degree danger mark during growth spurts
  • Despite the numbers, Australia has no stand-alone scoliosis research charity, so progress depends on broader childhood disease grants. Jeans for Genes funds that bigger pool of discovery

Nash – proof paediatric research & medical innovation helps

Paediatric surgeons used vertebral body tethering to ease Nash’s 52+ degree juvenile curve. Today he skips, plays soccer and chases Arthur pain-free. We are celebrating that freedom and raising money so every child can move just as freely, no matter what twists their genes throw.

Our 100-skip challenge

  • 100 rope skips every day in August
  • Sweaty evidence posted daily
  • Goal: $500 for gene research
