This year, our Oak Street team is coming together to support Jeans for Genes Day because every child deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy life.
Did you know that 1 in 20 children is born with a birth defect or genetic condition? That's 12 babies every minute worldwide facing conditions such as childhood cancers, cystic fibrosis, and life-threatening metabolic disorders. Funds raised through Jeans for Genes help support the brilliant researchers working tirelessly to discover better treatments and, ultimately, cures.
Having spent the past two years working with the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer's Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU), I've seen firsthand the incredible impact that research can have on individuals and families affected by genetic disease. Every breakthrough starts with research, and research is only possible thanks to the generosity of people who choose to support causes like this.
To celebrate Jeans for Genes Day, we're hosting an Oak Street Afternoon Tea (with plenty of blue cupcakes!) and encouraging everyone to wear their favourite blue jeans in support of this wonderful cause.
