Why I’m doing Jeans for Genes’ Bake it Blue
In honour of Emmy defying all odds by turning 2, I’ve signed up to do Bake it Blue this year.
This raises money and awareness for Children’s Medical Research Institute and helps save more kids’ lives.
For those who don’t know Emmy here is a little bit about her story:
Emmy was born with a rare genetic condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy or SMA, there are 4 types of SMA, Emmy has type one. This is the rarest form of the condition and the most deadly.
Emmy is turning 2 on the 8th of July despite all the odd being stacked against her, she has come a long way and she is a fighter, unfortunately she still has many hurdles to come.
Not only is she a little fighter but she is the happiest little girl I know. She get smarter by the day and she always has a little smile on her face.
There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
My hope in joining this cause is to raise more awareness for SMA and other genetic conditions to one day find a cure for little Emmy.
