Why Iโ€™m Moving this Jeans for Genes in Augustย

This August Iโ€™m unleashing my inner superhero and challenging myself to get up and get active to raise funds for Childrenโ€™s Medical Research Institute and help save more kidsโ€™ lives.

By participating in MOVE this Jeans for Genes, I am not only investing in my own well-being but also championing the future of these incredible kids.

Here's just one story explaining why this cause is so important:ย

Harrison was a healthy, active child, until one day out of the blue, โ€œHe wasnโ€™t quite right, and then the next day he just stopped walking, and we knew something was very wrong,โ€ said his father, Adam.ย ย

Doctors found something wrong with his blood, and when his parents were told it could be leukaemia โ€œeverything stopped.โ€ As terrifying as that word was for them to hear, it got worse as Harrisonโ€™s case was unique, and it took many DNA tests to determine he had acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). They were lucky to get the right treatment after the right diagnosis, but it could have gone very differently if that work had not been done.ย

ย โ€œMedical research is so important to get any answers for any genetic condition,โ€ said his mum, Naomi. โ€œFor Harrison, the research done prior to him getting sick is what helped save our son. Research needs to continue so the next child diagnosed with a rare form of AML or any cancerโ€”it can help them.โ€ย

I care about the 1 in 20 Aussie kids who face a birth defect or genetic disease, like cancer. Most people donโ€™t know that cancer is caused by changes in genesโ€”but almost everyone will be touched by it. So, the research you and I support today may one day help someone we know, someone in our family.ย

This August Iโ€™ll face my challenge to support the 1 in 20 kids that face their challenge every single day.

We can all be superheroes for these kids. Together let's make August a month of action, one heroic move at a time!ย

Day Two

Hello there!

Yesterday my moving involved strength training and focused on my core and back.

It was a very productive session at the gym and I was very focused. I have been going to the gym around 3-4 days a week and it has been so beneficial for all areas of my health. I love it!ย

Looking forward to more adventures!

Day One

Howdy!!ย

On Saturday, I started my MOVE journey (and may have gone a little overboard, but I love working out so it doesn't matter!).

Today I focused on legs! To start, I did some strength training using the bar and other gym equipment to become super dooper strong. Needless to say, my legs were on fire.ย

To finish, I then went for a couple of laps in the pool. I have been doing a lot of this more recently, and I have noticed a significant improvement in my breathing and endurance.

Finally, I took my furry bestie, Lexie for a nice golden hour afternoon walk. Lex always loves a stroll as sometimes there a few emu's and kangaroo's roaming about!ย

I can confirm I had an excellent night's sleep after the day!ย
