Why I’m doing Jeans for Genes
I’ve signed up to Jeans for Genes to raise money for Children’s Medical Research Institute and help save more kids’ lives. Can you help by sharing this message with the people you know and asking them to donate too?
Here's just one story explaining why this cause is so important:
Ruby my daughter was born healthy in 2006, after 3 months, we had an issue when going to bed Ruby was floppy and going a purple colour, after the ambulance came , they rushed to the closest hospital, there she was attended to, we as parents were just in the unknown world of what's happening, later that night (4 hours) she was transferred to the Womens and Children's Hospital (Adelaide) where she was placed in ICU - after a week of many days and nights of researching the medical staff advised us that Ruby had a genetic disease - Leighs Disease. After understanding what this disease was and can do, we were shattered to hear and absorb what the inevitable was. Leighs Disease is Mitochondrial Disease where unfortunately there is no cure.
For the next 3 months Rubys new home was the W&C Hospital, the nursing staff were fantastic, and the doctors made her feel as comfortable as possible.
Ruby passed in August 2006.
Since 2006, we have donated in some way to help with anything possible for any ill child that requires help.
There’s lots of work to do, but there is also lots of hope.
