Why I’m doing Jeans for Genes’ Bake it Blue

In February last year our family devastatingly lost our beautiful baby boy, Brodie, to a rare genetic condition called Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency (OTC).

OTC is a metabolic condition that in Brodie's case, was inherited through his X-chromosome. It affects 1 in 50,000 people worldwide, and the prognosis for newborns diagnosed with OTC is usually very bleak.

The Children's Medical Research Institute are currently undertaking extensive research and trialing gene therapy as a potential treatment for OTC.

Jeans for Genes Day is on Friday 2 August 2024.

We are hosting Jeans for Genes and Bake it Blue events at the trots on FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST and SATURDAY 3rd AUGUST to raise funds to help fund this incredible research and ultimately, find a cure for OTC.

👖🐴 GLOUCESTER PARK - GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND Come and see us with Tanya at Garrard’s on Friday 2 August, grab a delicious cupcake or sweet treat and drop a few dollars in our donation boxes on the night!

👖🐴 NORTHAM HARNESS RACING CLUB Wear you jeans - or something blue - Saturday 3 August at Burwood Park trots, for Jeans for Jeans fundraising night!

We’ll have delicious cupcakes for sale, plus raffles and prizes. 🧁

A huge THANK YOU to Raelene from the NHRC and WASBA for giving us a race name on the night, promoting Jeans for Genes Day. 💙🧬
