Why J4G's
People who know me, probably our second born little girl, Quinn. She was born with a rare genetic condition (renal tubular dysgenesis) and tragically for us, she didn't survive. It broke our hearts, and 2 years later it still does... Whilst CMRI didn't help Quinn as such, they did help us find out answers, and that alone meant so much to our family. So in honour of our little girl, who we miss every minute of every day... from Quinn's birthday in April through to jeans for genes day in August I'll be raising funds to support a cause that will be forever close to my heart... Then there are theΒ countless people who have benefited from the work that CMRI do every day.Β When you think about it, it's probably close to your heart too.
Raising funds not only helps me and my grieving process, which will last a lifetime from what I'm told... but it helps so many families who have been dealt a harsh blow - by donating you can help fund a treatment, provide support to a family, or even help fund an actual cure for a childhood disease. Imagine that... β¨πͺπ
So you could say that I care about the 1 in 20 Aussie kids who face a birth defect or genetic disease. FYI thatβs one in every classroom, maybe even someone you know or love. Every day, many of these kids wake up to face pills, injections, hospital visits (or worse). They never get the chance to run around and just be kids. If they can endure that, and keep smiling despite it all, then the least I can do is fight alongside them anyway I know how. Thatβs why Iβm doing Jeans for Genes in 2024, raising money for Childrenβs Medical Research Institute. I want to give these kids and their families better treatments and one day, maybe even a cure. πβ¨πͺ
