Why I’m doing Jeans for Genes
We support Jeans for Genes day every year in honour of our beautiful son Max. He is 7 years old now and loves going to school, playing footy, riding his bike and going to the beach! We are so grateful that he is able to do all these things and thrive - this is a result of receiving excellent medical care made possible by research. Max has a rare genetic condition called Shwachman Diamond Syndrome (SDS). It effects many different parts of Max's body including his bone marrow, pancreas, liver and growth. Over the years he has had countless hospital admissions and interventions and after everything he has been through he has developed into a bright, kind, energetic and happy little boy.
We are passionate about fundraising for The Children's Medical Research Institute as their work positively impacts Aussie kids (and globally) with various medical conditions. They are working on very complex and exciting projects such as gene therapy - which we hope could one day help Max!
