As a person with chronic pain and chronic health conditions, I know how frustrating it can be to experience these things and to try and navigate the world - and this is as an adult. It's a completely different experience for kids. 

For 1 in 20 children, their days can see them always feeling unwell or struggling to do the same things as their own friends. Simple things such as running around, playing on the playground, or even going outside can be a real challenge when you are facing health issues as a child. Their days are spent in hospitals, doctors' offices, or in bed—and that can be really hard for a child to process and experience. Kids just want to be kids. They want to enjoy themselves. They want to play. They want to have fun. 

As a person of action, rather than words, I want to give back to the community. I'm combining my passion for face and body artistry by offering my services with fundraising. I'll be offering face painting and selling various items, with all proceeds going to Jeans for Genes. These funds support vital research as part of the Children's Medical Research Institute. CMRI is an independent organisation with over 200 scientists committed to finding treatments and cures for serious conditions affecting children, including numerous birth defects and various genetic diseases. Their research allows children to be able to do those things that they want to do, to be able to run around, to enjoy playing in the playground and to be outside. Their childhood doesn’t have to be the four white walls of a hospital room or doctor's office and with your help, it can be the vast open world around us. 

Every dollar that you donate to this cause can help make that a reality. It can help remove the label of ‘incurable’ and ‘lifelong effects’, and instead, open up endless possibilities for the next generation. I want to see a future where kids can be kids; where they can play, laugh and enjoy themselves.
