Ollie's Story: Art, Strength and Survival

Every day, Ollie’s parents give thanks for the research that saved their son’s life, and every day, they fight for more to be done for the families who didn’t get the same outcome.Ā

Ollie was a happy, healthy child when he began complaining about dizziness, headaches, hearing problems, and double vision. But when his right eye suddenly turned, his mum Naomi knew something was seriously wrong.Ā

An MRI scan revealed the devastating truth: Ollie had a tumour in his skull. He was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer.Ā

With surgery too dangerous due to the tumour’s location, Ollie endured 67 rounds of chemotherapy and 32 rounds of radiotherapy. His family of five uprooted their lives and moved to Sydney to be close to the hospital for nearly two years.Ā

Throughout it all, Ollie found strength through art. His parents found purpose through advocacy, pushing for greater investment in research so more children can survive, and fewer families have to endure this journey.Ā

Today, Ollie is in remission. His story is one of hope, resilience, and the power of research.Ā

Donate now to help scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute create brighter futures for kids like Ollie.
